About
Southeast Intracoastal Waterway Park is a Florida Communities Trust Park and contains 114 acres of land located in Southeast St. Johns County between Crescent Beach and Fort Matanzas National Monument. It is bordered to the east by Scenic & Historic A1A Coastal Byway and to the west by the Matanzas River.
Enjoy Friend and Family Outings
Visitors to the park will get the chance to hike a trail that is over a half a mile long through the coastal scrub. In addition, there are breathtaking views from the Scenic Overlook including historic Fort Matanzas to the southwest sitting alongside the Matanzas River.
Experience Natural Florida
While exploring the park you can experience two diverse Florida habitats, the coastal scrub and the salt marsh. In the coastal scrub you will find live oaks that have been salt-pruned by the ocean air. In warmer months, you will likely find mosquitoes in this part of the park, so be sure to protect yourself from bites. Viewable from the scenic overlook, the salt marsh is a unique habitat that is home to many species such as oysters, manatees, and wading birds. Salt marshes play two very important roles in our ecosystem, they help to clean the water, and they provide nursery grounds for many marine species.
Visiting with your dog?
Leashed dogs are welcome in County parks. Please remember to clean up after your four-legged friend.
[Per County Ordinance 2005-114 domesticated dogs are allowed in County Parks and must be kept on a leash. Every individual who brings their dogs into a County Park shall be responsible for the removal and sanitary disposition of any excreta deposited by the animal anywhere within the County Park.]
