The Board recognized the St. Johns County Office of the Medical Examiner and Dr. Predrag Bulic for receiving accreditation from the National Association of Medical Examiners for meeting or exceeding national performance standards at its November 19, 2013, regular meeting. Only seven of the 24 Medical Examiner Districts in Florida have received this honor, and only 65 agencies throughout the United States have accomplished this goal.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation to Debbie Redding, Executive Director of the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County, declaring November 17-23, 2013, as Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week in St. Johns County.

Awards were presented to Past Chair Commissioner Jay Morris and Past Vice-Chair Commissioner William "Bill" McClure at the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Special Reorganization Meeting on November 19, 2013.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners presented Betty Ann Fredricks' a recognition of her retirement from St. Johns County Library Services at the Board's November 5, 2013, regular meeting. Betty Ann is culminating a long and distinguished career begun in 1999 where she has been employed as a branch manager of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, an assistant director for the library system, and the head of the library system's extension services and outreach department overseeing the books-by-mail program, the homebound delivery service, and the County's two bookmobiles.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners recognized Katherine Dvornick and her contributions to the Florida Heritage Book Festival, Writers Conference, and Literary Legends Awards Banquet, which integrally add to the quality of life and enrichment of St. Johns County at the Board's November 5, 2013, regular meeting.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners  presented a proclamation to announcing November 2013 as Mental Health Awareness Month in St. Johns County at their November 5, 2013, regular meeting. Those present for the proclamation were Chet Bell with Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral, Patti Greenough with EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, Brian Trela with Flagler Hospital, and Charles Hobbs representing National Alliance on Mental Illness of St. Johns County.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners declared November 11, 2013, as Veteran's Day in St. Johns County and presented the proclamation to distinguished guests from the Veteran's Council at the Board's November 5, 2013, regular meeting.

The Board proclaimed September 15-21, 2013, as Emil Maestre Music Association (EMMA) Week. A nonprofit all-volunteer organization, EMMA's mission is to produce quality music and dance performances for the St. Johns County community.

The Board proclaimed September 28, 2013, as National Estuaries Day. Representatives from St. Johns County's Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve strive to sustain St. Johns County coastal resources through science and education.

The Board proclaimed the Datil Pepper as the official plant of St. Johns County, and the first Saturday in October as Datil Pepper Day. Representatives of the Agricultural Center and community members presented the historical and cultural significance of the Datil Pepper in St. Johns County.
