Library Advisory Board (2 Regular Members)
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee created to advise the County on the establishment, operation and maintenance of free public library service within St. Johns County.
Meeting schedule: This Board will meet the 2nd Monday of each month at 9:30am located at the Southeast Library location.
Term: Members serve a term of four (4) years.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (2 Regular Members):
Purpose of Committee: To review established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan and recommend specific action or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
Qualifications:

  • Seeking applicants who reside in St. Johns County.
  • Seeking applicants in connection with Essential Service Personnel, which means any person in need of affordable housing, who is a permanent employee (excluding temporary and on-call employees) of a company or organization located within St. Johns County, including teachers and educators, police and fire personnel, health care personnel and skilled building trades personnel.

Term: Members serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Northwest Communication Tower Advisory Board (2 Regular Members)
Purpose of Committee: Review proposals for expenditure of income derived from the lease of Mills Field property.
Qualifications:

  • Seeking applicants who reside in the portion of St. Johns County bounded on the east by the westerly right-of-way of I-95; bounded on the south by the northerly right-of-way of CR 210 (from I-95 to Greenbrier Road); and by the northerly right-of-way of Greenbrier Road and its westerly extension (to the westerly boundary of St. Johns County); bounded on the west and north by the County line, who would also need to fill the below requirements.
  • (1 Regular) Applicant who has a passive recreation interest (i.e. garden club member, member of environmental group OR (1 Regular) Applicant who is a representative of the Civic Association.

Term: Regular members serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting schedule: This Board meets quarterly at the Veterans Park Office located at 1332 Veterans Parkway, St. Johns FL.

Tourist Development Council (1 Regular Member)
Purpose of Committee: Recommend funding of facilities, programs, or contracts which are primarily for the purpose of and related to the development, advancement, furtherance, improvement, or promotion of tourism.
Qualifications: Seeking (1) applicant who is an owner or operator of motels, hotels, or other tourist accommodations subject to the bed tax. Applicants must be registered voters in St. Johns County. 
Term: Members serve a term of four (4) years. (Note: Current vacancy will complete an unexpired term.)
Meeting schedule: This Council meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 1:30pm in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine FL 32084.

Industrial Development Authority (2 Regular Members)
Purpose of Committee: Created for the purpose of financing and refinancing projects for the public purpose described and in the manner provided by Florida Industrial Development Financing Act to foster economic development within St. Johns County.
Qualifications: Applicants must be a resident of St. Johns County and must be a registered voter in St. Johns County. Members must file financial disclosure.
Term: Members serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This Authority meets as needed on the 2nd Monday of every month from 3:00-5:00 pm in the BOCC Executive Board Conference Room, 500 San Sebastian View, St.Augustine FL 32084.

Architectural Review Committee (3 Regular Members and 2 Alternate)
Purpose of Committee: To ensure enhanced property development while maintaining and encouraging quality character of design within the PonteVedra and PonteVedra /Palm Valley Overlay Districts in line with the goals and objectives of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan.
Qualifications:

  • Seeking applicants competent in the fields of architecture, design, planning, landscape architecture or other relevant expertise who would also need to fill the below requirements.
  • Seeking applicants who reside in the PonteVedra Zoning District (1 Regular and 1 Alternative)

-OR-

  • Seeking applicants who reside in District 4, but outside of the PonteVedra Zoning District. (2 Regular and 1 Alternate)

Term: Regular members as well as alternates serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This committee meets every fourth Wednesday of each month from 5–8:30 p.m. in the PonteVedra Beach Branch Library.

Recreation Advisory Board (2 Regular)
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee that provides new ideas and assists in solving community recreation problems to help ensure leisure time programs and facilities for residents of St. Johns County. The Recreation Advisory Boards primary responsibility is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners.
Qualifications: Must be a resident of St. Johns County.
Term: This term will expire November 15, 2022
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 3:00 PM in the BOCC Executive Board Conference Room, County Administration Building, 500 San Sebastian View.

Application Submission Deadline: August 31, 2020

Value Adjustment Board (1)
Purpose of Board: To make a determination on petitions, from written recommendations resulting from special magistrate hearings, relating to:

  • Real property assessments
  • Tangible personal property assessments
  • Homestead exemptions
  • Other denied exemptions
  • Disputes arising from granted exemptions, upon the filing of exemption applications
  • Appeals concerning ad valorem tax deferrals and classifications
  • Appeals from determinations due to a change of ownership

Qualifications:  Must be a citizen owning homestead property within St. Johns County. The citizen member appointed may not be a member or employee of any taxing authority, and may not be a person who represents property owners in any administrative or judicial review of property taxes.
Meeting schedule: This Board meets on an as needed basis, up to three or four times a year, in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View St. Augustine, Florida.
